What does BOLD stand for?

What is BOLD Mercer?

BOLD is an acronym for BioCONECT Oncology Leadership Development, which is offered by the LIFE Center (Ladies Professional Golf Association In the FIGHT to Eradicate breast cancer) at Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey and the Center for School and Community-Based Research and Education, Rutgers School of Public Health.  The organization brings together a collection of researchers from Rutgers Cancer Institute and passionate students to raise awareness about cancer research and education. BOLD Mercer is the official Mercer chapter of BOLD that serves several towns and communities in the county. The primary mission for the Mercer chapter of BOLD is to contribute to the oncology research as well as raise funds and awareness for the organization and its cause.

 

Where do all proceeding go to?

The proceedings of all funding from BOLD Mercer go towards the awareness efforts of the organization, education and the research efforts of Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey.

 

Who are we to BOLD?

We are a group of passionate high school students, college students, and adults who are members of the Mercer chapter of BOLD. We most certainly believe in the cause for raising awareness of cancer and the further productive research in oncology. Many of us attend West Windsor Plainsboro High Schools, local colleges, and work for local businesses.

 

What do we do for BOLD?

We strive to maximize the funds and awareness raised for the organization and its cause through a variety of different events and efforts.  Many of the events include fundraising with local businesses, cancer awareness building with young children, and increasing the community involvement with the cause.

 

What else does BOLD do?

The BOLD Actions branch of the organization holds a 5k Fun Run/Walk every year to help raise awareness for the cause and unite people to fight cancer together. This event is specifically held by high school students in BOLD Actions where all proceeds benefit the LIFE Center at Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey.
